We are looking for a small animal practitioner as well as a mixed animal practitioner that would be doing about 70% small animal and 30% large animal. Small animal practitioners willing to learn and get more experience with large animal medicine are encouraged to apply as well. We are looking for a team player that has good communication skills, compassion, and a desire to practice high quality veterinary medicine in a rural setting. We believe in creating a welcoming, family-like atmosphere in which staff and clients are treated with the respect they deserve, and in which patients are treated with compassion and expertise.
Vale Veterinary Hospital is a mixed animal practice in Vale, NC. It is staffed by the practice owners and two full time associate veterinarians. The practice owners graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.
The practice is approximately 75-80% small animal. The large animal practice is mainly equine, beef cattle, goats, and sheep, but it also includes some dairy cattle, swine and camelids. We provide 24 hour emergency care for large animals only. No small animal emergency services provided because of proximity to a 24 hr emergency veterinary hospital. One veterinarian does do some exotic animal medicine also and would love to expand that portion of our practice. We have an exceptional staff, some of whom have been in the veterinary profession for 10-20 years, including 6 registered technicians, 2 receptionist, and 4 assistants.
The veterinary hospital was built in 2010 which has both small and large animal capabilities. The small animal practice includes a digital x-ray machine, GE Sound ultrasound, in-house Idexx blood analyzer and urinalysis machines, K-Laser therapy, and two isoflurane anesthesia machines.
The large animal practice has a portable digital x-ray machine, power float equipment, and reproductive ultrasound equipment and portable ultrasound machine along with 3 mobile veterinary units. Our practice radius is approximately 50 miles. Emergency calls are forwarded to the doctor on call for large animal only. There is a rotation between 3 other doctors for the on-call schedule.
We are eager to establish a long term working relationship with a veterinarian who would welcome the rewards and challenges of a mixed animal practice in this rural setting. We would love to attract someone with a strong interest in small animal medicine but be willing to practice on large animals as well. New graduates are welcome to apply. Competitive compensation packages available depending on experience.
