We have a seasonal position available for an equine medicine internist (DipECEIM, DipACVIM or Australian Fellow) in our ICU. The desired start date is 2nd July 2018. We are particularly looking for someone with skills in critical care and neonatology. Although we would like to appoint a diplomate, we would consider an applicant that was board-eligible. The position will be primarily hospital based with occasional visits on to local stud farms to provide second opinion consultations. The successful applicant will work alongside two other equine medicine specialists to provide a high level of veterinary care to critically ill neonatal foals, adult horses and post-operative patients. We admit approximately 1000 cases to the ICU per year, of which more than 200 are critically ill neonatal foals. The on-call roster is evenly shared and is currently a 1 in 3 roster for weeknights and weekends.
Scone Equine Hospital is the largest equine veterinary practice in Australia, employing approximately 40 equine veterinarians during the breeding season. We have support from three specialists in equine surgery, two specialists in theriogenology, associate veterinarians, interns, and a large team of experienced equine nurses. Available equipment includes a 3m video-gastroscope, video-endoscopy, dynamic endoscopy, diode laser, two ultrasound machines with Doppler, an ECG, digital radiography and full diagnostic laboratory.
