This position will be responsible for the following MedVet locations: Akron, Cleveland Northeast, Cleveland West, and Mahoning Valley. The Regional Hospital Director (RHD) is responsible for all aspects of the Medical Operations (Clinical Managers, Service Team Leaders, technicians, aides and support services personnel) within a regional group of hospitals that support the Medical Services (doctors) and various MedVet initiatives through management of the hospital directors. The individual in the RHD role acts as a liaison between Medical Services Leadership (Medical Directors) and Medical Operations Leadership (Hospital Directors) of the region’s veterinary hospitals and performs duties at the direction of the Vice President of Medical Operations. The successful candidate will develop and maintain exceptional relationships with the hospital leadership, doctors, staff and support services. The Regional Hospital Director will spend whatever time is necessary in the various hospitals to ensure success. This individual will work directly with veterinary hospitals to improve processes and profitability, and identify and implement local growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will live in the Midwest and be willing to travel up to 75% of the time.
This is a full-time leadership position that works collaboratively with each level of the MedVet organization to improve and sustain our focus on evaluating, planning, implementing delivery of best in class medical services to MedVet patients in support of our mission – Leading Specialty Healthcare for Pets. Acquires and maintains knowledge of organizational and local practice policies and procedures.
Utilizes practice management software and MedVet support system
Ensures proper staff scheduling and optimization.
Analyzes and interprets operational reports and identifies areas for improvement.
Champions and implements MedVet initiatives throughout the region.
Collaborate with other regional hospital directors to ensure all practices are delivering a consistent MedVet Experience.
Strategic Planning and Leadership
Collaborates with hospital leadership to develop business strategy and aids in its implementation.
Creates action plans, sets and manages goals, delegate tasks, and tracks metrics.
Analyzes and improves systems, policies, and processes.
Hospital Leader Development
Onboard new Hospital Directors and ensures a successful introduction into the company.
Mentors, coaches, and sets expectations with hospital leadership and staff.
Ensures Hospital Directors are trained in financial and operational systems and methods.
Analyzes the financial health of hospitals and diagnoses issues.
Assists with the preparation and communication of the annual budget.
Oversees the management of costs, particularly labor.
Manages revenue growth.
Assists Hospital Directors with interviewing, hiring, and resolving personnel issues.
Conducts Hospital Director performance reviews and oversees career development.
Ensures hospitals comply with all federal and state human resource policies (I-9, DEA, OSHA).
Makes recommendations for staff training and development.
Negotiates and mediates conflicts; coaches and provides feedback to hospital leadership.
Develops, champions, and drives client retention initiatives.
Directs and oversees tactics for increasing new client visits.
Assesses the quality of client service and provides direction for enhancements.
Evaluate NPS scores and works with Hospital Directors to identify themes and problem solve/implement initiatives for resolution.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent education is required.
5-8 years of experience in management with healthcare management or veterinary practice experience preferred.
Knowledge of practice management processes, efficiencies, standards, metrics, and benchmarks.
Knowledge of veterinary practice management software, such as Cornerstone, is preferred.
Work remotely and have the ability to travel up to approximately 75% of the time.
